Crown Plaza, The Place to Meet. The InterContinental Hotels Group have launched their Second Life presence. The island, called ‘The Place to Meet’, is a venue offering meeting/discussion facilities. This is a great initiative that ties in nicely with a facet of their real world operations.
The island itself has three different types of room available:
- Executive conference room, for 10+ people
- Theatre room for 30+
- Lounge room, for 20+
All facilities come with streaming audio/video capabilities as well as PowerPoint image viewing.
A key feature with the project, on the theme of Integration is the supporting website. The site not only promotes the initiative but also (more importantly) serves as a booking form to reserve meeting space on the island.
The venue was officially launched with an event called ‘Leading Brands Summit on the Impact of Emerging Media’. The Business Communicators in Second Life blog has more information about the event.
